MEETING WITH THE FIRST LADY - DR. TSHEPO MOTSEPE-RAMAPHOSA
I met with the First lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe-Ramaphosa at Cyril Ramaphosa
Foundation in Sandton on the 11 th of March 2020. The purpose of the meeting was to
invite her to SARAECE National Conference to be held from the 8 th to the 10 th of July
2020 at CPUT, Mobrawy Campus, Western Cape. The following members were part
of the meeting:
The First lady - Dr. Tshepo Motsepe
Prof N.C. Phatudi from Unisa representing SARAECE and
The Early Child Care Foundation executive members.
Introductions made were in the form of information sharing of each institution’s
background, as a way of finding common ground for all participants.
Dr Motsepe was invited based on the long relationship she had with ASHA (now
Early Child Care Foundation) and her interest and passion for early childhood
learning at the margins, its growth and development, especially the birth to four that
has been marginalised in the past. An invitation was formally presented to her,
inviting her to be the main speaker at the SARAECE conference; however an
agreement was reached that she will present an opening speech for the conference.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with Dr. Motsepe agreeing tentatively to
accept the SARAECE invitation. Prof Phatudi promised to keep her informed of any
changes that might affect the plans for the conference.
We welcome the acceptance by Dr Motsepe-Ramaphosa to honour the SARAECE
conference and we are looking forward to hosting her as a guest at SARAECE!!
